Sam Pilcher Trust

The Sam Pilcher Trust is a charity which helps children and represents love, support and unity.

Sam Pilcher was a brave boy who lived in Upper Slaughter and attended Swell C of E Primary School. Sadly, Sam was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in September 2008. Sam bravely battled with this dreadful disease to the day he died on 4th June 2010, aged 11.

The charity now helps children, particularly adolescent children, who are suffering from cancer (including Leukaemia). The Trust also helps to support their families during and after their treatment, particularly whilst they are in hospital. In addition to this, Ward 35 at Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital, where Sam was treated are also benefiting from the charity. In particular, the Trust is helping Children’s Oncology Unit at Gloucester Royal Children’s Hospital, where Sam was first treated.

So far, the Trust has recently helped to refurbish the Activity Room at Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital. It is lovely to see Sam's art up in the room too, encouraging patients.

The Charity are aiming to provide more for these children including heart monitors, observation machines, a CD player, overnight comforts for parents, such as pillows and more improvements to parent kitchens/facilities.
